San Francisco – Apr 21, 2007
I went to California for the weekend to visit Erika who is attending school. We had a great time along the Pacific coast and San Francisco. It was a little chilly (the climate is always a little cooler there) so I bought a jacket in Chinatown for $15. What made an impression on me were the number of homeless people on the streets of the city. I thought the few in New Orleans were too many!
My biggest souvenir of California is a skin rash that has me out of commission. When we went to the edge of the cliffs overlooking the Pacific I slipped on some flowers that were spongy and slimy. I didn’t feel the effects until I left Monday in the plane heading home. The next day I looked like I lost a fight with a poison ivy broom. My arms were swollen, my face swollen and red. I went to work but couldn’t do much. I had to get to a doctor fast before it got worse which is what it was doing. I couldn’t get an open time with my primary care physician so I had to got to the emergency room. I’ll be able to get back to work Monday. The trip to California was worth it.
